My Birth Story Part 1

Here is the story of how my beautiful baby girl came into this world. I had to use some of Johnny's Journal entries to remember some of the things that went on that day.. :) Thanks for a great husband who wrote it all down as it was happening! Here are a couple belly shots before. :)

I went in for my doctors appointment on October 22, in hopes that I would be dialated or thinning out some. I had been walking for several hours a day with the dogs and climbing stairs, I had such a healthy pregnancy with no blood pressure problems, no diabetes, no contractions, nothing! I thought that I had everything in order to deliver this baby as natural as possible! I was ready! Johnny and I had taken birthing classes at the hospital as well as breastfeeding classes so that I was as prepared as possible to succeed! My hospital bag had been packed since I had gone to Vernal for Chelsea's wedding 4 weeks prior. The nursery was ready. Everything was perfect for our little girl to just get here already. I was 3 days away from being a full 40 weeks and I was starting to hurt! My hips were killing me and my back was sore. I never had any swelling thank heavens but my poor belly was stretched to the max!
So at my doctors appointment I had high hopes on having a baby come any day! :) Unfortunatly after being check I was completely closed up! No baby any time soon! So my doctor asked if we would like to schedule an induction date just to be on the schedule incase baby decided she didn't want to come on her own. I said yes please! I was ready to have her already! We have waited long enough! So we booked to be induced the following evening.

My mom and sister drove out on Tuesday so they could be here with me as well. We had a "Final Supper" so to speak and I had requested Steak! :) Shocker I know..
We got to the hospital around 9 and were getting all the final paperwork filled out. And got check into our room. (Sounds like we were staying at a hotel.. We kinda were!)

 Ready for BABY!!

This is the monitor I was hooked up on. The doctors noticed that she didn't have much movement but it wasn't a huge concern because her heart rate was still great. (Notice I was having contractions! YAY! I couldn't feel them yet though)

I was started on a drug called Cervadil for the first night. It's a string that is inserted so that if it becomes too much for the baby to handle they can take it out. We got to sleep, as much as we could considering I had to pee about every hour and Johnny had to help me get up because I was hooked up to so many cords! Needless to say we didn't get very much sleep and being the stubborn one that I am I declined the Ambien to get some much needed rest. The doctor came in in the morning of Wednesday and checked us again. NOTHING!!! Not a dang thing! What the heck! Soooo the next drug was pulled out and I was put on Pitocin around 8 that morning. Through-out the day the doctors came in and kept having to move me around because Macady wasn't moving very much. They kept mentioning it but said it wasn't a huge worry at the moment. Needless to say I was starving after going for more than 24 hours with out eating it was not fun. I was checked a couple times throughout the day and still nothing... I sent Johnny to go and get some food around 8:30 that night and before he even made it out the hospital doors the doctor that was on call came in and looked over my contraction list (Not sure what that is called) and said that she was concerned about Macady and she said I needed to go back for a C-section soon. I about had a heart attack! I called Johnny and he came running back up to the room. I was devistated and didn't really know what to think. I knew that a C-section was always a possiblity when it comes to having a baby but it never hit me that it could possibly happen to me! After talking to my sister and mom and nurse the doctor came back in and we discussed other options because I just wasn't ready to jump to surgery just yet. She finally said that it would be ok for now but it was something that I really needed to think about.. She recommended that we start a drug called Cytotec* next. After being given the first dose of that, I had to keep getting a new dose every 4 hours. So we were preparing for another night. I asked if I could have the Ambien this time to help me get some more sleep and of course they said I couldn't because it could make Macady move less than she already was... Of course that was just my luck. Thankfully I slept better than the night before. My dad left that night to come out because I told him I wanted him out here as soon as possible. He drove all night and showed up around 1:30 in the morning. He came in my room to wake me up to tell me that he had made it and that he loved me.. Scared the crap out of me but I was sooooo glad to see my dad! I am a total Daddy's Girl. Johnny was a little out of it and didn't even remember my dad coming in.

The next morning Thursday October 25th, another new doctor came in to check me and talk to us. After a long night of talking with my Amazing nurse and Johnny I finally decided that we would have to do the C-section. My doctor sat down and really talked to me about what was going on. That she was concerned about her movement but where he heart rate was good she wasn't ready to jump on the c-section like the Dr the night before was. She went ahead and checked me and still NOTHING!!! She said I wasn't even a 1. Talk about Failure! She told me to go ahead and shower and get cleaned up and then they would start me on another dose of the cytotec. So Johnny (My love) helped me into the tub and I took a nice bath. About halfway through I started to feel a few contractions.. WHAT!!! I was feeling things! :) I thought oh ya here we go! I told Johnny I kinda felt like I was peeing in the tub! He gave me a funny look and I said I'm really peeing in the tub! It might be my water breaking! So I hurried (Pregnant fat lady hurried) and got out. As I was drying off and getting my lovely hospital gown back on the contractions began to get hard! I couldn't even stand up! All I wanted to do was pull my hair back and I couldn't do it fast enough! I thought in my mind for sure I went from a 1 to a 10 in 30 minutes! I walked/waddled out of the bath room and started to get to the bed as my nurse came in and asked me how it was. I told her well.... I feel like I am leaking and I am having bad contractions! She said wonderful! Lets get you in bed! So she put the extra towels down and said she was going to check me one last time before she put the cytotec in. As she did so POP! And there went my water! I wet my bed and all I could do was appologize! She was like stop saying that! Thats what we want to happen! :) LOL..
